Some journeys change your pace the moment you arrive. England’s southwest coast invites long walks, sea air, excellent wine and food, conversations that drift late into the evening and the delicious freedom of having nowhere urgent to be. Days unfold between dramatic cliffside paths, hidden fishing villages, beautiful local food and the kind of scenery that literally stops you in your tracks. This is a softer, more soulful side of Britain — deeply atmospheric, wildly beautiful and perfectly suited to women who enjoy adventure wrapped in style, substance and a touch of indulgence.

This Great British Adventure is a small-group women’s walking adventure through the breathtaking landscapes of Devon and Cornwall, beginning in vibrant Bristol before weaving through some of England’s most captivating coastal regions. You’ll wander the steep cobbled lanes of Clovelly, where whitewashed cottages tumble towards the harbour and life still moves with the tides. Along the coast, guided walks reveal rugged headlands, secret coves and sea views that seem to stretch endlessly into the horizon.

Then comes Cornwall — cinematic, artistic and endlessly charming. Port Isaac brings its postcard-perfect beauty and lively harbour atmosphere, while Padstow offers exceptional local produce, elegant seaside dining and that unmistakable Cornwall ease.

Between windswept coastlines, historic villages and the wild beauty of Dartmoor as your finale, this guided coastal walking adventure captures the England most visitors never truly find.

But this journey is about more than where you go. It is about how you feel while you are there. Relaxed. Energised. Inspired. Wonderfully free from routine. Somewhere between the sea spray, the laughter over dinner, the exhilaration of the next walk and the joy of discovering Britain through fresh eyes, something shifts. Life feels expansive again.

Today’s spectacular hike leads south toward the Camel Estuary, revealing sweeping cliff-top vistas where the turquoise Atlantic crashes against rugged slate headlands. We conclude our walk at the vibrant surfing beach of Polzeath, where you can enjoy the sea breeze and a well-earned rest.  For those who don’t wish to get to strenuous another option will be available to make sure you don’t miss out!

We then continue to a traditional fishing village where whitewashed cottages cluster around a sheltered cove and colourful fishing boats rest upon the shingle.

After a fresh local lunch by the sea, we visit the historic clifftop hut where Guglielmo Marconi made history in 1901 with the world’s first transatlantic radio signal.

Wander through the terraced subtropical gardens clinging to the cliffs and explore the medieval castle, where centuries of myths and legends echo through the stone halls.

Returning to St Ives this afternoon, we step into a gin-making workshop for a hands-on masterclass. Under expert guidance, discover the art of balancing botanicals – from traditional juniper to coastal gorse – as you create your own bespoke spirit blend.

This evening is yours to spend at leisure. You may choose to dine overlooking the sands of Carbis Bay or venture into St Ives to explore its vibrant harbour restaurants and hidden foodie laneways.

Around midday, we depart the coast and journey inland toward St Austell, stopping for lunch en route.

In the afternoon, we arrive at The Lost Gardens of Heligan for a guided tour. Once hidden beneath brambles for decades after the First World War, this extraordinary 200-acre estate is now one of Europe’s most romantic restored gardens.

Explore the Victorian Productive Gardens and the lush subtropical “Jungle” as your guide brings the estate’s remarkable story back to life.

Later, we continue into the atmospheric landscapes of Dartmoor, arriving at our luxurious country retreat where we settle in for the next three nights.
