Today you will depart Meteora and drive down south to Athens to Fly to your next adventure.

On your way you will have a short stop to Thermopylae, the “Hot Gates”, world-famous for the battle that took place there between the Greek forces and the invading Persian forces. In 480 BC, 300 Spartans under King Leonidas, along with 700 Thespians, delayed the vast army of Xerxes in a legendary last stand, following the betrayal by Ephialtes, who showed the Persians how to outflank the Greek forces.

Today, you can see the famous monument depicting Leonidas in full armor opposite the historic hill of Kolonos, and the hot springs of Thermopylae, an important spa resort in Central Greece

You will also visit the seaside town of Kammena Vourla where you may enjoy a delicious lunch by the sea (own account).

Milos is a volcanic island with many different and mind-blowing beaches due to its volcanic geography. The colorful doors and the seafront create a picture that summarises the essence of a Greek island!

Monday 04:  Santorini here we come…

This morning we leave Milos for the most famous of Greek Islands, Santorini.  Only a 2.5 hour fast boat transfer and you are there.  Upon arrival you will be transferred to your beautiful hotel.

Santorini’s beauty has been waxed lyrical over the years, fully earning the epithet “kalliste” (the most beautiful).  Along with “Strogili”, this was one of the former names lent to the island over its troubled history.

Its history is one of battles and conquers, of a tragic eruption and a blossoming renaissance – events that haven’t altered Santorini’s charm but that undoubtedly scarred it.

Together with the inhabited Therania and five other smaller islands, Thera (Santorini’s Greek name) belongs to the namesake archipelago which is the vestige of a volcanic caldera. Places of unspoiled nature and postcard-like views, the islands are reachable by boat and bear the original appeal of the old-fashioned Santorini. The main island is split further into picturesque villages masterly painted in dazzling blue and white hues, outlining the holiday resort’s multi-faceted personality and its extraordinary variety of landscapes.

The scent of wine grapes and vineyards stretching lazily down Santorini’s unrefined hills; the unique taste of tomatoes grown solely on volcanic soil and the soaring temperature of the island; the subtle sand or the smoothness of white pebbles and turquoise waters of some of Europe’s most suggestive beaches; the upbeat sound of the buzzing nightlife; the spectacle of the sun setting behind the village of Oia and the caldera to finally plunge into the skyline.

Santorini gratifies all 5 senses, treating the traveller to enchanting views and thousands of colours.

This afternoon it is all yours to enjoy at leisure.

This evening we  meet for a pre dinner drink and talk about the adventures of the day, the time for some delicious dining so get out your coastal glam and let’s go.

Nevertheless, in Oia you can go any time of the day you want, the unique atmosphere of the settlement will carry you away.  There are many divine boutiques and jewellery stores, plus local artisans to explore during the morning…

Then you will have the unique opportunity to view the sunset wfrom the comfort of your catamaran.

Scala de Faro

The Scala De Faro Hotel has a long and rich history dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries, when built by Venetians. The materials used in its construction, its distinct architectural features, as well as references from various historical sources, show that it was originally a two-storey building with carved, porous arches embellishing the ground floor, and an upper floor –probably the “Piano Nobile” or main floor– where a Venetian noble resided. The monumental proportions of the northern façade are the building’s most iconic element and prove its initial Venetian origin. The arched stone-built staircase is a monument of fortification, adorned with floral patterns and a built-in fountain at the base of its arc.

At this prestigious and majestic building –the largest in the Old Port–, nowadays the Scala de Faro, guests can enjoy a magnificent view to the sea, the old Venetian harbour and the city, replete with all modern conveniences a traveller may need.
